Model Factory Hiro K839 1/12 Williams FW16 1994 Rd.3 San Marino GP #2 Ayrton Senna [Special Edition]
The FW16 was the entry for the 1994 season from the Williams team, succeeding the championship-winning machine FW15C from the 1993 season. It was piloted by Ayrton Senna, widely regarded as the best driver of his time.
The FW16 was equipped with the Renault V10 engine that the team had been using since 1989. However, due to the ban on electronic driver aids such as active suspension midway through the 1993 season, the FW16 struggled to perform effectively with the engine. Although designers Adrian Newey and Patrick Head designed the car to take advantage of aerodynamics, it made the car extremely difficult to handle, and even a seasoned driver like Senna encountered problems driving it.
Although Senna qualified for pole position in the first two rounds of the season, he eventually retired from both races, with Michael Schumacher from the Benetton team winning instead.
With handling issues unresolved, the FW16 entered the third race of the season, the San Marino GP, on May 1st, 1994.
